JVC 32-Inch LCD is Ultrathin and Ultralight

JVC claims to have come up with the world’s most anorexic LCD TV that weighs a mere 11 lbs (5 kgs), not counting the weight of the AV connector breakout box and power adapter, and is just 0.28 inch or 7 mm thick.
Although exact details about this JVC 32-inch LCD TV are sparse, more details are expected when the product debuts at the CES. JVC is positioning the TV as an environment friendly gadget that uses fewer materials, an energy-efficient driver system, and eliminates the use of mercury as it uses LED backlight as a light source. Being light-weight it reduces the cost of transportation. JVC credits the ultralight weight to a modular design or as the press release puts it – “50% less materials and 10% fewer LCD module parts.”
New optical elements enable high-resolution display, excellent contrast properties, and a wide range of colors. The low weight and girth will allow home users to place the television as per their convenience.
Given the pace at which the race for the slimmest and lightest TVs is taking place, it won’t be surprising to see the JVC model being trumped by another one that is thinner and lighter.
