Say goodbye to grainy footage of office CCTV cams for here comes the Digital Window from Scallop Imaging. The device is consists of five cellphone camera lenses for seven megapixel imaging at fifteen frames per second and a 180º view.
Digital Window allows for excellent face recognition as well as instant digital pan and digital zoom with no camera movement at all. It’s a great device for offices and call centers that deal with sensitive information. Although employees have five eyes watching from each camera, the final image is a single stitched one covering 180º.
An excellent hack device, the Digital Window fills a niche that required hi-def stealth cameras to keep track of employee activity. The one drawback of this device is that the amount of information that it generates over a 10/100 Ethernet network could be overwhelming. Storing can be managed, what about archiving those terabytes of information and also compliance issues that you will need to factor.
Two such devices will give a 360º view without any fish eye distortions or blind spots. The images are compatible with video analytics software. Wonder why Scallop stopped at five lenses and seven megapixel; surely there’s room for more power and more fun but definitely not for the staff which now knows that big brother really is watching them.
