Olympus Mju Durable Cameras Renamed Mju Tough/µ Tough [Olympus Rebrand Mju Range, New Models Pending]

Olympus have announced that their Muji range of ultra durable shockproof, waterproof and freezeproof compact cameras are to be rebranded as the Mju Tough (or µ Tough, to be specific) in preparation for a new line up that will be announced by Olympus in January 09.

‘Over the last few years, our tough µ SW-series cameras have increasingly impressed consumers with their combination of incredible durability and excellent image quality. They allow our customers the freedom to shoot in situations where other cameras simply wouldn’t survive’, says Miquel Angel Garcia, Managing Director Marketing at Olympus Imaging Europa GmbH in Olympus’s press release detailing the rebranding of the Mju range. “Since some of our cameras even go beyond shockproof and waterproof – certain models are freezeproof and crushproof as well – we needed a name that was more reflective of the true nature of the SW series. The µ TOUGH brand lets our customers know what these cameras truly have to offer: strength that’s always ready to go, even in the most extreme conditions’.

At the time of writing Olympus has opted not to offer any specific initial details concerning its new Mju Tough /µ Tough compact cameras but there’s little doubting that Olympus are obviously wholly intent on building upon the already well established reputation of the Mju camera range and you can rest assured that we’ll be offering a heads up concerning the new Mju cameras the moment Olympus make an announcement early next year.
