Logitech have introduced their new Comfort Lapdesk which, according to Logitech, has been designed to provide ‘a stable base and helps protect against laptop heat whether you’re working from the comfort of your couch, relaxing on your bed or reclining on the living-room floor’ whilst browsing the net, watching videos or instant messaging.
Designed as a direct response to Logitech research that apparently confirms that around 60% of people use their laptops/notebooks whilst on the couch whilst 36% use their mobile computers whilst in bed and 16% use their portables whilst laying on the floor (we actually browse the net whilst adhered to the ceiling, incidentally – so Logitech are obviously not catering for us) the Logitech Comfort Lapdesk sports a four-layer, heat-shielding design ensuring that not only are those body parts that are in contact with your laptop/notebook are shielded from heat transfer but that the device itself remains cooler thanks to a greater air flow.

From a comfort perspective, not only will the Comfort Lapdesk negate heat transfer but, thanks to a cushioned base it’ll allow ‘people to relax their legs instead of locking the knees together to support the computer’ whilst a non-slip glossy top finish will help ensure that your laptop/notebook is not prone to sliding around.
‘While other lapdesks promise improved comfort, they often fall short because of poor design and low-quality materials,’ said Denis Pavillard, Logitech’s vice president of product marketing for keyboards and desktops, who introduced the Comfort Lapdesk. ‘The new Logitech lapdesk has a thoughtful design that will help make your laptop experience more comfortable, wherever you use your computer.’
According to Logitech’s press release, the Logitech Comfort Lapdesk is set to begin shipping in Europe from January 09 with a US release following on a month later when it’ll set you back just shy of $40.
