Samsung Launches Ego GT-S9402 ‘Luxury’ Cell Phone

Samsung have officially announced their Ego GT-S9402 cell phone which Samsung bill as being a ‘luxury’ phone in sporting a Calltech developed ‘liquidmental’ composite alloy shell which is billed as being ‘3 times stronger, can withstand 1.8 times the pressure, is 1.6 time more flexible, has 3 times better vibration absorption and 100% lower thermal conductivity then titanium’ though, with a design that patently lacks originality and specifications that markedly fail to impress we suggest that Samsung’s definition of ‘luxury’ is far removed from our own.
Sporting a 2” 262K color AMOLED QVGA resolution display, the Samsung Ego GT-S9402 – which, as Engadget points out, bears more than a striking similarity to Vertu Ferrari Ascent Ti (see below) – is a tri-band GSM device offering GPRS/EDGE connectivity and comes with a 5MP camera (let’s not mention the Pixon here), 1GB of integrated storage capacity which can be supplemented with microSDHC memory cards up to a total of 8GB, Bluetooth and a built in FM tuner with RDS and will set you back around $1,200 (or $1,513).
Yes, you read that right – $1,513 for a phone that isn’t even 3G.

Come, come Samsung. We love you, we do – but you’ll excuse us for pretending that the Ego GT-S9402 simply doesn’t exist much in the same way that sometimes its best to put an argument with one’s partner aside so one can live on happily ever after (hey, nobody’s perfect – not even Samsung).
Let’s move on, quickly.
