Whilst not the first digital photo frame with integrated printer we’ve come across – we refer specifically to the SmartPants SP8PRT Digital Photo Frame – Japanese company Keian’s new digital photo frame with built in printer, known as the Keian P71-A2-JP, certainly offers a somewhat more modern level of styling than the aforementioned product – though one could argue that whilst the aforementioned SmartPants is an overly ‘wooden’ affair this new digital frame from Keian is just as overly plastic (but who are we to quibble).
The Keian P71-A2-JP Digital Photo Frame sports a 7” 480×234 resolution display and, whilst the integrated printing functionality is undoubtedly the star of the show, it also comes with MP3 playback abilities allowing you to add a suitably sublime soundtrack to your holiday snaps whilst also offering, in terms of ‘bolt on’ storage, a built in SD/SDHC/MS memory card slot and a USB port (for loading imagery directly from a USB memory stick).
In terms of print output, you’re looking at 100×150mm color prints at 300dpi though we are, at this stage, unable to ascertain whether it employs the same dye sublimation printing technique as utilised by the aforementioned SmartPants offering.
There’s no word as to either pricing or availability at the time of writing but, given a choice between the SmartPants SP8PRT and this Keian P71-A2-JP we know which we’d opt for (if only from an aesthetic perspective).
