Following on from the recently featured Cygnett GrooveNeo iPhone/iPod Speaker & Radio Alarm Clock, which has proven particularly popular with you it must be said, we felt compelled to post concerning this Moshi Interactive Voice Responsive Clock – or Moshi IVR Alarm Clock as its officially titled – which may not offer iPod or iPhone connectivity but, in promising completely hands free operation courtesy of voice activated control, certainly floats our boat (we have a fixation with modern, predominantly black and especially geeky timepieces as regular readers will know).
Using what Moshi term as a ‘unique hybrid model of Neural Net and HMM Phonetic Speaker Independent (SI) Recognition software’ (I hope you feel suitably impressed), the Moshi IVR Alarm Clock will respond to 12 separate voice activated comments and, interestingly, the Moshi IVR Alarm Clock will not, in case you are wondering, accidentally go setting a ridiculously early alarm calls having mistakenly picked up your regular conversation as, to initiate the voice command system, the device has to hear ‘Hello Moshi’ – which is all well and good unless you happen to have a dog called Moshi in which case you could find yourself experiencing the somewhat surreal scenario of a digital alarm clock fetching a bone. (No, hold on, that’s just silly).
Agreed, voice activated clocks are nothing new but there’s no doubt that the Moshi IVR Alarm Clock is a particularly fine example and, once you factor in its considerable visual appeal, its one that’s hard to ignore should you be in the market for a new, deliciously geeky timepiece that, unlike your wife/partner, will actually listen to you for a change.
