
Those of you who, for whatever reason, simply cannot abide by working on a Microsoft flavoured OS (or who especially like Linux) and who happen to be in the market for a new netbook of non Asus, MSI, et al decent will no doubt greet the news that HP is set to release a Linux version of its HP Mini 1000 netbook with if not open arms then, at the very least, a respectful nod of the head.
The Linux version of the HP Mini 1000 netbook will comes bundled with what HP term as their ‘Mobile Internet Experience Software’ and will sport the following key features (as detailed on HP’s site):
- Intuitive dashboard-style interface boasts built-in browsing and fast web access
- Work and play comfortably on the near-full-size keyboard (92% of full size)
- View Web sites and photos clearly on the 8.9” or up to 10.2″ diagonal display
- Chat face to face with built in HP Mini Webcam
- Snap an HP Mobile Mini USB drive into recessed port to add storage
- Carry it wherever you go – only 1″ thin and 2.25 lbs
No word as yet concerning a specific date of release , but HP have, at least, offered us an insight as to its Linux flavoured Mini 1000 netbook which will retail from $380.
