Those of you who are familiar with our other site, EP, will doubtless question quite why the work of Giancarlo De Astis is posted here and not there (it fits there better, certainly) but, being that we’ve featured a fair few items of recycled aviation themed furnishings here on TFTS in the past – if you haven’t seen MotoArt’s B-52 Ejector Seat Office Chair or their B747 Reception Desk yet, where have you been? (insert slightly patronising look here, if you must) – so we thought we really ought to post here as opposed to there (I’m having a ‘wordy’ day toady aren’t I (as well as a developing yet another bout of bracket fixation – I need a beer)).

Fabricated (as opposed to constructed – the term seems more apt) from parts salvaged from decommissioned aircraft from the aircraft junkyards/bone yards of Arizona (somewhere that’s on my list of places I must see before I pop my clogs), Giancarlo De Astis’s aircraft themed furnishing will, as you more than probably expected, cost you an arm and a leg but his furnishings are, undoubtedly, furnishings are works of art in there own right and, let’s be honest here, art would not be art unless in was predominantly out of reach for must of us mere mortals, would it (and I say that having trained as a Fine Artist myself)?

Consisting of everything from very 60’s feel chairs made from fighter canopies to tables with engine cowling bases and tables made from elevators, if you have a particular bent for all things aviation and you have the money to splash on items of furnishings that will wow your home’s every guest, Giancarlo De Astis’s website is well worth a gander.
