The flagship 42” Allio (the Allio will actually be offered in a total of six configurations, incidentally) sports a display boasting 2,000:1 contrast ratio and 400 cd/m2 brightness paired with dual 12 watt speakers and will even work in spilt screen mode allowing a DVD to be watched in one window whilst television programs are viewed in another. Additionally, thanks to the integration of an Intel Core2Duo E8400 based PC with 4GB of RAM and a 1TB HDD running 64-bit Vista Home Premium you can not only watch the TV, a DVD or Blu-ray your can also partake in a little web browsing or even engage in a little AOL Instant Messenger or Skype based messaging. And, just in case you were wondering, the Allio offers both wired and wireless internet connectivity.
According to Silicon Mountain’s press release, the enormously impressive Silicon Mountain Allio will come in the following 32” and 42” based variants and configurations:
- Intel 2.5 GHz E5200 CPU, 250GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, DVD/CD support and Vista Home Premium priced $1,599 (32”) and $1,999 (42”).

Additionally Silicon Mountain have stated that they plan to release a cheaper version of the Allio running the Ubuntu Linux operating system, though specific details have not been divulged at the time of writing.
No word as yet concerning the shipping date of Silicon Mountain’s mightily impressive Allio HDTV PC with Blu-ray/DVD & PVR but we’ll endeavour keep you posted.
