DataWind PocketSurfer2 Updated to PocketSurfer2R with TouchPad, GPS & Unlimited Internet Browsing For UK Users

DataWind have updated their clamshell PocketSurfer2 mobile internet device to PocketSurfer2R standard with revisions including a new touchpad, integrated GPS receiver, a revamped display (though the resolution remains the same as the previous model at 640×240) and a series of particularly competitive price plans which includes what is being touted as unlimited internet access via the PocketSurfer2R for the entire lifetime of the device.

Available in the UK, the DataWind PocketSurfer2R, on initial inspection, comes with the choice of two price plans after the first year (during which you’ll get 20 hours of net access for ‘free’) – either a £40 annual fee or what the company terms as ‘unlimited usage for the lifetime of the device’ which is applicable after the first year with users who pay and additional £60 being offered, according to Datawind’s CEO Suneet Singh Tuli, ‘indefinite’ web access with no additional access charges – though we should add that we are yet to confirm this latter plan (we’ll endeavour to update you with full details the moment we can).

As a result of the roll out of the new DataWind PocketSurfer2R it’s been revealed that the original PocketSurfer2 will be discontinued, however, DataWind are offering a new, lesser-specified PocketSurfer2L which retails at around £150 (the PocketSurfer2R will set you back around £200, incidentally).
