Nintendo DS Pedometer Hints At DS Wii Style Motion Sensing ‘Rhythm’ Based Gaming

Information is decidedly sparse at the time of writing, however, having posted only yesterday concerning a rumour that Nintendo’s DS handheld console could be in the process of being updated (see: New Nintendo DS Rumoured) we simply could not pass up on offering a brief heads up concerning an intriguing pedometer type device that would seem to hint that the DS will be getting (probably somewhat crude in comparison to the Wii’s capabilities) motion sensing gaming that appears to be based on keeping or maintaining rhythm in one way or another.

As stated above, details are extremely thin on the ground at the moment, but its not difficult to imaging the types of game play styles a DS pedometer could be used for (dancing/jogging?) and, of the few details known, it is clear that the pedometer relies on a receiver that connects to the DS’s Slot-1 port and that, whatever the launch title may be (it appears to be something along the lines of ‘Lifestyle Rhythm DS’ based on a translation of a video clip unearthed) it will appear in stores in Japan sometime this month.
We’ll bring you more details here at TFTS the moment we have them.
