Samsung Intro Armani Night Effect Emporio Armani Branded Cell Phone

Designer Dull Candybar

Whilst we don’t doubt that Armani fanboys will flock to avail themselves of Samsung’s new Armani Night Effect cell phone, personally, for our tastes, we think it’s a mixture of dull, and somewhat insipidly styled candybar handset paired with uninventive lighting effects in what could be seen as a desperate bid to make the Armani Night Effect seem somewhat more interesting (and cool, perhaps) than it so patently isn’t – but that’s just our opinion and we have never quite been star struck by brash designer branding anyhow.

That said, we do accept, of course, that there are those that simply couldn’t face leaving the house in the morning without just about everything on their person being suitably, and brashly, branded and, for those, we don’t doubt that the Samsung Armani Night Effect will undoubtedly appeal regardless of the fact that the device itself could neither be described as cutting edge or, for that matter, anything other than a run-of-the-mill candybar that’s seeming happy to rely almost solely on its designer tag in order to secure sales.

A Quadband GSM/HSDPA device, the Samsung Armani Night Effect comes with an AMOLED display, a 3.2 megapixel camera (sans flash), 120MB of integrated memory, an inbuilt music player with dedicated controls and, apart from ‘boasting’ Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity even comes complete with FM tuner (exciting stuff, indeed).

Whilst we wouldn’t dream of inferring that this is very much a case of style over substance, the undoubted highlight concerning the Samsung Armani Night Effect would appear to be LED lit strip that runs around the side of the handset and that, well that kind of says it all really. Oh, and of course, there’s the Emporio Armani logo on both the front and back – and sides – of the handset (how could we have missed that?).

It’s interesting, isn’t it, that a phone branded with one of the greatest designer’s names could be so totally, wholly and unequivocally dull and so very lacking in any sense of creativity that the irony of it all is hard to escape. Still, if the branding is enough for you, you’ll be glad to know that the Samsung Armani Night Effect handset is due to become available in Europe sometime in November with further, international roll outs following soon after. No word as yet concerning pricing.
