Hi John

I guess you answered my ultimate question ... Stick to books! ;)

Thank you for taking the time to give us some insight into your hands-on experience with the product.

Hi John,

Many thanks for your personal insight though I should stress that the closing statement in your comment is a matter of your opinion and is not in any way a reflection of our opinions, thoughs etc, etc (just in case Sony's legal team are reading) :-)

Still, John, your obvious disappointment in the product comes shining through and will undoubtably be of interest to others.

Battery only lasts 2 weeks reliably, as long as three when new. In a practical sense, a few hundred to less than 1000 page turns. (Self-discharge rate is very high even when fully off.) Book selection is limited. PDF viewing is COMPLETELY USELESS unless you specifically format the PDF exactly for the eBook resolution (general PDFs made for PC viewing cannot be read usefully). Limited book selection. Completely incompatible with mobi format which my library uses. RSS management is completely manual (download, transfer, and delete of each feed is separate and manual) and a real pain in the !@#$% to use, again, nearly useless. Menu system is slow and arcane. Music cannot be sorted, and playing music runs down the battery in 10's of minutes. Great for reading a book from Sony's store, but near-useless for anything else. Read the fine print in the extended warranty -- it's legitimized fraud.
