Sony have announced yet another stand alone DVD player/recorder in the form of their new Sony VRD-MC10 DVD (detialed as being the Sony VDR-MC10 DVD on certain other sites) which has been designed to work in conjunction with the Sony HandyCam range of camcorders allowing for footage (including 1080p HD quality video) to be burned directly from your camcorder to DVD without the need of a PC.

Measuring in at a compact 198×75x230mm, the Sony VRD-MC10 DVD features a 2.7” colour LCD display allowing for ease of use and, we assume, basic editing functionality (though the unit can also be operated courtesy of the included remote), as well as a HDMI port allowing for the VRD-MC10 DVD to be hooked up directly to a HDTV for viewing of HD content/footage. Additionally the VRD-MC10 DVD comes with an analogue input jack as well as USB port as well as composite video output for connection to standard TVs.
At the time of writing Sony’s VRD-MC10 is merely listed as ‘coming soon’ and unit pricing is presently unspecified.
