Samsung have taken the wraps off their latest cell phone to feature extensive use of corn-based bioplastics in the form of their new E200 Eco which, whilst being the third Samsung handset to utilise bioplastics has the distinction of being their first phone to boast a complete external casing made from environmentally friendly plant-derived bioplastics.

Due to become available in Europe next month (September ’08), Samsung’s E200 Eco, which, due to using bioplastics, negates the need for using petroleum in the manufacturing of the unit’s shell, comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera and integrated MP3 player and, in order to underpin its green credentials even comes with a built-in alarm that will remind you to unplug the phone’s charger once the handset is fully charged. Additionally the E200 Eco will be supplied with 100% recycled packaging.
No word at the time of writing concerning unit pricing.
