block rocker portable ipod pa party system

We’ve featured a fair few iPod docks that are somewhat removed from your otherwise standard iPod docking station – take the AM/FM Construction Radio iPod Dock and the Inflatable iBig iPod Boombox as but two examples (though Geneva Lab’s Model XL 600W iPod Docking Station is also worth a mention) – but, if you’re looking for the ultimate iPod based PA party machine the Block Rocker Portable iPod PA System certainly seems to have all bases covered.

Resembling an amp in appearance, the Block Rocker, which is made from heavy duty aluminium, is billed as being capable of delivering ‘high-fidelity sound to over 150 feet’ (though no actual wattage output is specified, which seems a curious omission), and thanks to its built-in rechargeable battery can keep your party in full swing for up to a purported 12 hours between charges.

The Block Rocker is supplied with an integrated universal dock for iPod, iPod Mini, or iPod Nano, an input for wither a balanced XLR or 1/4″ microphone paired with a 1/4″ jack for guitar, keyboard, other instrument, or second microphone and even comes with an RCA port with which you can connect a host of external audio equipment such as CD players of other (non-Apple) MP3 players.

Personally I would liked to have seen some specifications concerning, at the very least, the Block Rocker’s output and frequency range but, then again, the product page is, it has to be said, not exactly overly forthcoming with detail – which, considering the $300 price tag, means that you’d have to be reasonably happy with being somewhat in the dark as to what you’re buying into to consider it worth purchasing.
