When it comes to stereo speakers few can match this Sounger Vin 1/8 Violin Stereo Speaker System in terms of either originality or, depending on your perspective, sheer quirkiness, but for those whose musical tastes sit comfortably in the realm of the classical, and who are not adverse to a little eccentricity, these violin shaped speakers – which promise an especially warm sound on account of being crafted from both Spruce and Maple wood – could prove a little too hard to resist.

Designed for use with iPods and other MP3 players as well as a veritable array of other audio equipment (thanks to being supplied with RCA inputs), the Sounger Vin 1/8 Violin Stereo Speaker System sports two beautifully crafted violin speaker units offering 20W of power, each of which measure in at 150 x 500 x 130mm, as well as a separate themed amplifier offering 30W total output that even comes with LED lighting (though, admittedly, this strikes us as being a little on the tacky side).

Unfortunately as the source site is Korean and opts to show text in image format as much as we would like to pour over the finer details of these novel speakers the page proves wholly resistant to any form of online translation tool, so we’ll have to make do with the sparse detail above and the imagery unless some kindly Korean speaking reader can offer us a little more insight.

The Sounger Vin 1/8 Violin Stereo Speaker System retails for 784,000 South Korean Won which equates to around $770/£397/€503 at the time of writing.

  2. Sounger Vin 1/8 MP3 Violin Speaker System is Fiddle-Shaped, for Style | Gadgetorium! |

[...] MP3 speakers play music, so they may as well look like a musical instrument: that seems to be the thinking behind the Sounger Vin 1/8 Violin Speaker System with amp. And before you dismiss the device as a gimmick, you need to know it’s crafted from spruce and maple wood, each speaker is 20W and stands 19-inches tall and the amp is violin-themed too. Does a wooden speaker-body, echoing the shape of a violin (which itself is optimized to make the great sounds) mean it’ll sound better than nasty plastic speakers? Hard to say: but you can’t deny that in terms of stylish, unusual looks, this is a winner. It’s available in Korea, but you’ll have to save up, violin fans, since it costs $770. [TFTS] [...]
