Whilst one could argue that this particular camera, known as the Camball DVR, is somewhat redundant in an age when the vast majority of just have cell phones with integrated cameras offering far greater resolution than the mere 640 x 480 offered by this ball shaped digital video recorder that measures in at roughly the same size as a ping pong ball there’s no doubting that, as a somewhat expendable gadget, the Camball has a certain appeal – especially when you factor in that the Camball also functions as an MP3 player (albeit a somewhat rudimentary one).

Designed to record video in either 320×240 or 640×480 resolution, which is written directly to an SD Card in MPEG4 file format, the Camball DVR comes complete with a min USB connection allowing for captured footage to be uploaded directly to your PC with ease (though you could, of course, also transfer footage directly from the SD card if you have a card reader), the Camball also comes with headphone socket for MP3 playback with a series of LEDs offering at least some feedback concerning the devices present mode and status (which, let’s face it, is more than apple’s Shuffle has on offer).
Unfortunately at the time of writing the Camball appears only to be available in Korea where it retails for around $225 or, if you’re happy to dispense with MP3 player functionality, $185.
