Just last week we posted about Hasselblad’s new H3DII-50 pro DSLR which proclaimed itself as offering the highest resolution sensor ever made in offering a staggering 50 megapixel resolution but its reign at the top was to prove decidedly fleeting thanks to 60 megapixel Phase One P65+ which not only exceeds the H3DII-50’s sensor resolution by a not insignificant 10 megapixels but also assumes the mantel of being the world’s first real full-frame 645 format device.
Utilising a propriety sensor developed by Phase One and Dalsa, the P65+ can produce 30X40″ gallery quality 60 megapixel prints at a rate of one frame per second which, considering the sheer size of the captures, is no mean feat) though, thanks to what Phase One terms as ‘Scaleable pixel and file size’ the P65+ can be configured for various resolutions allowing for faster capture times for imagery not requiring the full 60MP treatment.
The price? Just shy of a cool $40,000.
