Wazakura Koubou Gold Plated Keyboard Is Supremely Stylish, Not [Hideous Gold Keyboard]

At least once a month some gadget or peripheral comes along featuring gold plating which, we assume, is supposed to convey opulence and style but that invariably just looks totally hideous and Wazakura Koubou’s Gold Plated Keyboard certainly serves to underpin why it is that we think that gold invariably just looks completely crass when applied in such a manner.

Quite possibly the ugliest keyboard we’ve ever seen – and that’s including a Play Doh keyboard I tried to make as a kid which, frankly, boasted considerable more style than this – Wazakura Koubou appear to have fallen into the trap that so many do when it comes to introducing gold to gadgets and peripherals – that being the (apparent) premise that anything made of or including gold should be automatically desirable simply due to the use of a precious metal. With that in mind it would appear that overall aesthetics come a very poor second (gold being the sole star of the show) and the results are, we think you’ll agree, enough to turn one’s stomach.

The keyboard comes with a two-port USB hub and the keys are apparently made from 99.99% pure gold but we’ll take a good, old fashioned plastic keyboard that has at least some semblance of style over this monstrosity any day.

Wazakura Koubou’s Gold Plated Keyboard has just been released in Japan with a retail price of around $270.

File under eminently forgettable.
