Creative ZEN X-Fi WiFi PMP Now Officially Listed (IM Capable PMP]

Whilst hardly the best kept secret in the world it’s nice, at long last, to get the official lowdown concerning Creative’s new WiFi capable ZEN X-Fi portable media player which, apart from offering WiFi connectivity allowing you to instant message directly from the device via Yahoo and MSN instant-messaging clients also, as the name suggests, comes with Creative’s X-Fi audio processing technology (the first of Creative’s PMPs to do so).

Due to become available with 8GB, 16GB and 32GB integrated storage capacities, with the latter two models supporting WiFi connectivity (it would appear at this juncture that the 8GB model comes sans WiFi), the Creative ZEN X-Fi, which measures in at 83mm x 55mm x 12.8mm, sports a 2.5” 16.7M colour 320 x 240 resolution TFT LCD screen, MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, Audible 4 audio format and MJPEG, WMV9, MPEG4-SP, DivX 4/5 and XviD video file format compatibility (as well as supporting JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIFF digital image files).

The Creative ZEN X-Fi’s built-in Li-ion battery offers a purported endurance of up to 36 hours audio playback and 5 hours video playback and, naturally, the device offers expandability in terms of storage capacity thanks to an integrated SDHC card slot.
No word at the time of writing concerning worldwide availability but the pricing structure announced for the Creative ZEN X-Fi’s release in Singapore serves, at least, to offer some insight with the 8GB, 16GB and 32GB models retailing for around $145, $209 and $245 USD respectively.
