LG Intro L42PP Ultra Durable ‘Tough Guy’ LCD Monitors

LG have announced two new ultra durable LCD monitors in its new L42PP range in the form of the 4:3 aspect ratio 19” L1942PP and 17” L1742PP both of which feature screen surfaces made from tempered glass as opposed to the usual acrylic based material offering a 7H hardness rating whilst standard monitors come in at around 2H or less.
For those of us that cannot quite fathom exactly what a 7H hardness rating equates to, it translates in layman’s terms to being able to withstand a 1.2lbs steel ball being dropped onto the screens without any resulting damage (though LG negate to mention from what height the steel ball in question was dropped, which strikes us as a little ambiguous – was it several meters or a millimetre or two?).
LG’s new ultra durable 19” L1942PP and 17” L1742PP LCD displays are intended for use in environments such as schools, libraries and internet cafes, where screens invariably face a little more wear and tear than home based screens and, apart from their ruggedness, are otherwise fairly rudimentary monitors offering a maximum resolution of just 1280 x 1024 though the addition of LG’s picture enhancing F-engine chipset will no doubt be welcomed along with the monitor’s 8,000:1 contrast ratio.
LG L1942PP and LG L1742PP Key Features:
- DFC: 8,000:1
- 4:3 aspect ratio
- 5ms grey-to-grey response time
- High resolution: 1280 x 1024
- Brightness: 300 nits
- Pivot stand – 30 degree tilt, 90 degree rotation
- 170 degree viewing angle and 16.7cd/m (L1954PP)
- 160 degree viewing angle and 16.2cd/m (L1754PP)
Pricing of LG’s new L42PP LCD screens, which have just been made available, starts at around £135.
(Apologies for the terrible image quality – LG have not been especially forthcoming with decent sized product images)
