Logitech have taken the wraps off their latest webcam, the QuickCam Vision Pro, which is designed specifically for use with Apple’s Mac and, apart from offering up to 720p 1600 x 1200 resolution HD quality image/video capture and Carl Zeiss optics complete with autofocus and integrated microphone, also happens to be Logitech’s first ever Mac compatible webcam.

The Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Macs was introduced by Gina Clark, general manager and vice president of Logitech’s Internet Communications business unit, who states, “With this new webcam for Mac computers, we’ve integrated our most advanced video technologies to truly enrich your video-calling experience. The lens and autofocus, the sensor and the lighting software all contribute to create image-perfect detail and clarity. Whether you’ve used a standalone or an embedded webcam in the past, you’ll be amazed at the difference in quality our new webcam makes.”

Utalising a voice coil motor for its autofocus system instead of a more traditional stepper motor to ensure prompt focusing on subjects, the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro’s autofocus is billed as being capable of focusing on objects as close as 10cm to the QuickCam Vision Pro’s lens whilst a 2 megapixel sensor featuring Logitech’s RightLight 2 technology also ensures that the device compensates for differing lighting conditions (in essence, dynamically correcting exposure).
