Alesis Intros Alesis ProTrack Stereo ‘Direct To iPod’ Digital Recorder [World’s First Professional Quality Handheld iPod Stereo Recorder]

Alesis have unveiled their up and coming Alesis ProTrack stereo ‘direct To iPod’ digital recorder which is billed as being the world’s first high quality stereo digital recorder for Apple’s iPod – specifically iPod (Classic or 5th Generation), or iPod Nano (2nd or 3rd Generation) players.

Serving to correct what we consider to be a glaring omission on the part of Apple – quite why the new gen iPods didn’t come with integrated microphone allowing the device to record digital memos and serve as a basic dictation device wholly escapes us – the Alesis ProTrack comes with two integrated high quality condenser microphones fixed in XY stereo configuration for stereo (2 channel) recording as well as a pair of combination XLR – 1/4-inch inputs for connection for external microphones and line sources.

The exterior of the Alesis ProTrack sports a Universal Dock for iPod, LED signal indicators, limiter, and volume controls as well as a built in threaded mount for tabletop use whilst mounted on a camera tripod and the device is powered by 4 AAA batteries that purportedly offer up to five hours of recording time.

According to the official press release, Alesis’s ProTrack Stereo Digital Recorder will become available sometime in Q3 of this year (08) though, at this juncture, pricing details have not been divulged.
