Shenzhen EM-2811 ‘Latte ICE’ Budget Portable Media Player

EM-2811 Cut Price PMP

Shenzhen EM-2811 Latte ICE Budget Portable Media Player

We’ve featured more than a few PMPs here on TFTS and, whilst a few of the entry-level PMPs have sported a reasonable – if not especially spectacular – roll-call of specifications it has to be said that this Shenzhen EM-2811 ‘Latte ICE’ portable media player is, as far as budget PMPs go, a fairly reasonable device considering its diminutive price tag.

Built around a 2.8” QVGA (320 x 240 resolution) display the Shenzhen EM-2811 ‘Latte ICE’ offers MP3, WMA, AVI (XVID), MPEG, WAV and JPEG file format compatibility allowing you to play music and videos (somewhat of a prerequisite when it comes to PMPs) as well as record voice memos and display images in slideshow format with an equaliser offering all the usual suspects (Normal, 3D, Rock, Pop, Classic, Self-defined, Bass, Jazz) plus user definable settings.

Add to the above a built in speaker and FM tuner, a stated battery life of up to four hours for video and eight hours for audio (okay, so that’s not great) and built in Tetris – grate for whiling away the hours whilst commuting – and that the Shenzhen EM-2811 ‘Latte ICE’ will only set you back $70, $80 or $100 for the 1GB, 2GB and 4GB models (all offer Micro SD memory card slot, by the way) and what you have is undoubtedly a solid performer for the price.
