They say the best things in life come in pairs – and certainly, with certain somewhat fond memories springing to mind, I’d certainly not disagree, but I digress (takes cold shower, returns) – and, in the case of Asus’s new G70 extreme gaming performance laptop it would appear that Asus have taken this very much to heart with their new G70 offering dual core processors (with Intel Core 2 Duo or Intel Core 2 Extreme processors on offer), Dual Nvidia 8700M GT graphics cards in SLi configuration and even dual HDD bays offering a potential combined storage capacity of up to 640GB.
Not content with offering dual processors, graphics cards and HDDs the Asus G70 takes matters still further in also sporting dual displays – the primary 17” WUXGA (1920×1200) Full HD display (sporting ‘ultra-quick’ (?) 8ms response time) being supplemented by secondary screen mounted just above the keyboard which, according to Asus’s press release, ‘displays critical system information, in-coming email and message alerts and personalized messages’.
Still not enough ‘dualism’ for you? No, we thought not (after all you can never have too much of a good thing). How about ‘dual sound power’ feeding Dolby Home Theater and Altec Lansing speakers with a total of four speaker units, mounted in each of the G70’s corners, serving to deliver 3D surround sound whilst offering (in the case of the front mounted speakers) a series of flashing lights that will pulsate in sync to either your music of in-game sound effects. Yes, we’ll happily have a bit of that, too.
