Philips Eco TV LCD HDTV

Philips have just announced the availability of four new models in its Eco TV range of ‘eco sensitive’ HDTV units in the form of its new 32PFL5403, 42PFL5603, 47PLF5603 and 52PFL5603 Eco TVs that, apart from having the distinction of being awarded Best of Show as this year’s CES, promise to offer a distinct appeal to an evermore eco-aware consumer base.

The new Eco TV LCD HDTV models come with a range of power saving features including proprietary dimming technology (designed to lower the LCD panel backlight to reduce power consumption without compromising the picture quality), and built-in light sensor which automatically measure the viewing room’s ambient lighting and adjusts the television’s backlight for power efficiency and serve to further enhance their green credentials by coming with environmentally sensitive flame retardant materials and even packaging made of recycled materials.

All of the new Eco TV units comes with Pixel Plus 3 HD technology offering what Philips describe as ‘the unique combination of ultimate sharpness, natural detail, vivid colors and smooth natural motion’ and come with Dolby Digital output for connection to home theatre systems, four HDMI inputs and a range of features such as integrated USB connector allowing for access to JPEG photos and mp3 music playback from USB memory devices.

Offering screen sizes ranging from 32” to 52”, prices start at $750 for the 32” model though, somewhat notably, Philips have now stated that all its displays will now embrace the technologies featured specifically in its Eco TV series, which can only be applauded.
