Sony Ericsson C905 ‘Shiho’ Cyber-Shot 8.1MP Cell Phone

It never ceases to amaze us that, even at this juncture, many a new handset comes with such a poor excuse for a camera that it almost seems to have merely been ‘bolted-on’ in order for a suit to tick a box and add another line to the spec sheet but Sony Ericsson (who are not averse to providing somewhat uninspiring camera functionality in more than a few of its latest releases) certainly cannot be accused of this when it comes to their new C905 ‘Shiho’ Cyber-Shot slider phone.
Apart from being Sony Ericsson’s first ever slider Cyber-Shot, their up and coming C905 handset (codenamed ‘Shiho’) truly serves to blur the boundaries between cell phone and digital camera in offering an impressive 8.1 megapixel resolution (enough to produce reasonable quality A3 prints) camera complete with Xenon flash, auto focus, image stabilisation, face recognition, red-eye reduction, Smart Contrast and even A-GPS geo tagging of pictures using the C905’s integrated GPS unit.

Add to this already impressive feature set the C905’s ability to automatically flip between portrait and landscape photography modes based merely on how you hold the handset – thanks to an integrated accelerometer, TV-out support (allowing you to view your photos on your TV directly from the handset), the ability to capture video and WiFi with DLNA support (another first for Sony Ericsson handsets) and, we think you’ll agree, the C905 looks set to be a force to be reckoned with.
Sony Ericsson C905 ‘Shiho’ Cyber-Shot Key Features:
- Complete digital camera experience on a phone – true digital camera styling and an 8.1 megapixel camera with Xenon flash
- Outstanding picture quality – complete with face detection auto-focus, smart contrast and image stabilizer
- From baby’s first steps to an amazing sunset; store them all on the 2GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) included
- The USB adaptor (CCR-70) provided in-box allows for easy transfer of your photos to-and-from your PC.
- View high-quality pictures on the phones impressive 2.4” scratch-resistant mineral glass display
- Share your memories – send your photos wirelessly from your phone to your TV via Wi-Fi (using DLNA), or connect with wires using the TV-Out Cable ITC-60, also announced today
- Upload photos to your own online blogsite or print your photos with fantastic resolution up to A3 size
Of course, being a Sony Ericsson handset it goes without saying that MP3/AAC media player functionality comes as standard.
Sporting a 2.4” 240 x 320 resolution 262K colour TFT, a purported talktime of around 9 hours and a standby time of up to 380 hours, Sony Ericsson’s C905 will come in a range of colours (namely Night Black, Ice Silver and Copper Gold) and will become available in early Q4 in ‘selected markets’.
No word concerning pricing at the time of writing.
