
Nokia have officially taken the wraps off their new E-Series handset, the S60 Symbian based E71, which, apart from sporting an ultra slim design of just 10mm, comes with QWERTY keypad and is, according to Nokia, is ‘optimised for personal and professional email’ though its fair to say that their 3G E71 is far from being a one trick pony.

Sporting a 2.4”320 x 240 (QVGA) 16.7 million colour LCD display, Nokia’s 3G E71, which is specifically based on the third edition of the S60 Symbian operating system, apart from boasting support for email accounts from more than a thousand internet service providers (ISPs) around the world, inclusive of Gmail, Yahoo! mail and Hotmail, also comes with HSDPA, wireless LAN and 3G connectivity, Assisted GPS (A-GPS) complete with Nokia Maps for navigational purposes, 110MB of on-board flash based memory (expandable to up to 8GB) as well as integrated 3.2 megapixel camera offering autofocus. Naturally, the E71 also comes with media player functionality with AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, MP3, AMR-NB, AMR-WB and WMA file format support.

Described as ‘the right and new concept for a new way of working’ the E71 is set to become available in either grey steel or white steel finishes sometime in Q3 (08) and will set you back in the region of a somewhat wallet-unfriendly $500.
