Hewlett Packard HP Pavilion TX2500Z Tablet PC

Hewlett Packard have just released their new HP Pavilion TX2500Z series ‘convertible’ laptop – which serves in both standard notebook as well as tablet PC configurations – which, apart from sporting a 12.1” WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution touch screen pivoting display complete with hand writing recognition, serves to build upon the success of the HP Pavilion TX2000z by offering AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM dual-core power – from 2.1GHz to 2.4GHz - under the hood paired with an ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics chipset.

The much anticipated, Vista powered HP Pavilion TX2500Z, apart from offering increased dual-core processing capabilities, comes complete with integrated WiFi, TV out (S-video), in built Altec Lansing stereo speakers, 3 USB ports, 5-in-1 digital media card reader and up to 4GB of RAM and 320GB 5400RPM SATA HDD as well a veritable host of user selectable options such as an integrated fingerprint reader mounted on the side of the unit and a webcam with two omni-directional microphones but, interestingly, Broadband wireless capabilities are, somewhat curiously, not included as standard and require a Verizon Wireless V740 ExpressCard which is available as an optional item only.

HP Pavilion TX2500Z Key Features:

  • AMD Turion(TM) X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor ZM-80 (2.1GHz–2.4GHz)
  • Up to 4GB DDR2 RAM
  • Optional Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth
  • 160/250/320GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive
  • SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW optical disk
  • Optional Fingerprint Reader
  • Integrated Webcam with Altec Lansing stereo speakers
  • 6 or 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

Measuring in at 8.82” x 12.05” x 1.23 1.52″ and weighing 4.59lbs, Hewlett Packard’s new HP Pavilion TX2500Z ‘Ultra Portable Convertible’ Tablet PC has just been made available at the time of writing with prices starting from just under $1,050 for the base configuration with the recommended set up (AMD Turion(TM) X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor ZM-80 (2.1 GHz), 1GB DDR2 RAM, 802.11b/g WLAN and 60GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive) coming in at $1,227.
