Aiptek have unveiled the latest in their range of competitively priced camcorders in the form of the Aiptek AHD 500 Plus which, apart from offering 1080p HD 1440 x 1080 resolution capture with true 16:6 aspect ratio (as well as 720p recording at 60fps) also sports 3x optical zoom and stills image capture at up to 8 megapixels – all at an extremely keen price point.

Billing their AHD Z500 Plus, which measures in at a somewhat pocket-friendly 113 x 70 x 33mm, as opening up the HD camcorder to the masses, Aiptek’s AHD Z500 Plus sports a 2.4” swivel-mounted TFT display, the camera being of the pistol grip variety, offers a purported recording time of 2 hours (1080p capture) utilising a SDHC 8GB card and up to 8 hours using a 32GB SDHC card though, whilst battery life is not detailed at the time of writing, its fair to assume that the AHD Z500 Plus will run out of juice prior to filling the latter card.
Aiptek AHD Z500 Plus 1080p HD Camcorder Key Features:
- High definition (1080p) AVC HD (1440 x 1080 pixels, 16.9) resolution up to 30 fps
- High definition (720p) AVC HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution up to 60 fps
- 3x optical auto focus zoom lens
- Macro mode for detailed 5cm close up video and still capture

- (up to 8 hours of 1080p high definition video with a 32GB SDHC card)

Aiptek’s AHD Z500 Plus 1080p HD Camcorder is set for release next month (July 08) and carries an SRP of just shy of £250 (which equates to around $492 allowing for the terrible $-£ exchange rate at the time of writing).
