
LG have announced a new trio of Blu-ray optical disk drives, namely the BE06, GBC-H20L and GBW-H20L, which offer up to 6x recording speeds and well as integrated SecurDisc and LightScribe technology facilitating content access control and the creation of ‘direct-to-disc’ labels directly via the drives respectively.
‘LG drives offer everyday users and professionals some of the fastest recording speeds in the industry,’ said Marc Sorkin, senior marketing manager, for LG Electronics IT and Home Entertainment products. ‘With cutting-edge technologies such as SecurDisc and LightScribe, which make data transfer easier and safer, these drives meet consumers’ increasing demand for a compact storage option both in the office and at home.’
Designed specifically for laptop users or those that have a multitude of PCs, the BE06 (pictured above) has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $379.95.can be easily connected through the USB 2.0 connection and a DC power adapter.
LG BE06 Key Features:

- 6x BD-R/2x BD-RE read compatible
- DVD+RW/-RW recording speed to 16x recording
LG’s new GBC-H20L and the GBW-H20L, which, according to LG’s press release, have been designed specifically for consumer looking for safe and fast data backup boasts one of the industry’s fastest read and write speed at 16xwith, for example, the GBW-H20L capable of handling up to 50GB of data (equivalent to around 4-1/2 hours of high-definition video or 22 hours of standard definition video) on a dual layer 50GB BD-R/BD-RE recordable media.
LG GBC-H20L and the GBW-H20L Key Features:
- 6x BD-R/2x BD-RE read compatible
- 6x BD-R/2x BD-RE read and write compatible (GBW-H20L)
- 16x DVD+RW/-RW recording speed (GBW-H20L)
- Up to 40X CDRW recording speeds
LG’s new BE06 will retail for around $380 whilst the GBC-H20L and the GBW-H20L will retail for around $200 and $280 respectively. The BE06 is already available whilst the GBC-H20L and the GBW-H20L are set to become available at any moment (though at the time of writing, we were unable to find product listings hence are unable to provide imagery of these two drives).
