Western Digital have announced that they have now become shipping their new WD3000GLFS VelociRaptor 3.5” 10,000 RPM 300GB 3Gb/s SATA hard disk drive, claimed to be the world’s fastest SATA drive delivering performance up to 35% greater than previous generation Raptor drives, which we initially posted about back in April.

Priced at $387, WD’s WD3000GLFS VelociRaptor 300GB SATA HDD, apart from offering blisteringly fast data transfer speeds of up to 3GB/s, comes with a 1.4 million MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure) rating, RAFF (Rotary Acceleration Feed Forward) technology serving to optimise drive performance whilst compensating for vibration prone working environments and SecurePark which serves to lift the read/write heads off the platters during spin up/spin down for increased protection and drive reliability.
