Original Soul’s Adaptive Touchscreen Dropped in Favour of 9.9mm Ultra Sleek Form Factor

Considering the phenomenal success of Samsung’s Soul it was only a matter of time until we saw a variation on the Soul theme appear and, never ones to disappoint, Samsung have just released details concerning their new Soulb candy-bar style cell phone which, according to Samsung’s press release, manages to retain all the merits of the original Soul (notwithstanding the fact that the original Soul’s adaptive touchscreen keypad has been dropped) whilst offering an ultra sleek form factor boasting a thickness of a mere 9.9mm.

Billed as ‘continuing the legacy of the Soul’, Samsung’s new Soulb sports a 2” QVGA 16M colour TFT supporting the same thematic UI’s offered in the original Soul, a 3 megapixel camera with LED flash (featuring an increase in brightness of 3x), an integrated music player supporting MP3, AAC, AAC+,e-AAC+, WMA and RA file formats, an integrated FM radio tuner with RDS, Bluetooth 2.0 EDR connectivity and 1GB built-in memory (expandable via microSD cards).

Introduced by Geesung Choi, President of Samsung’s Telecom Business, who asserts that the ‘Soulb proves the world that Samsung is not only a predominant leader in selective form factors, but that it continuously seeks after becoming the leader in all variety of form factors, including slider, clamshell and bar’, Samsung’s press release states that the Soulb will first become available in Germany early June with rollouts in other countries – serving to ‘continue the Soul legend ‘ – following at unspecified intervals.
