LaCie 301828U D2 External Blu-ray Drive Boasts 4x Recording Speed

LaCie has updated its Neil Poulton designed, aluminum alloy cased D2 multi-format Blu-ray and DVD/CD writer resulting in a new, revised model offering 4x Blu-ray burn speeds, which is twice the 2x Blu-ray write speed offered by the previous version, allowing the LaCie’ revised D2 to write the equivalent of 10 DVDs worth of data at throughputs of up to 18MB/s.

Capable of recording 25GB or 50GB BD-R at 4x speeds and BD-RE at 2x speeds, LaCie’s revised D2, which measures in at 172.8 x 44.8 x 251.1 mm, can also burn DVD±R at 16x, DVD±RW at 6x, DVD±R DL at 4x as well as CD-R and CD-ROM at 40x and CD-RW at 32x and comes with 8MB cache, high-speed USB 2.0 and dual FireWire 400 connectivity as well as Toast 8 Titanium, Easy Media Creator 9, PowerDVD BD software packages all for around $650.
