BenQ SP290 DLP High-End UNISHAPE Projector

BenQ have taken the wraps off their new SP290 high-end DLP projector which sports dual 280W lamps resulting in an impressive 6,000 lumens output paired with OSRAM’s UNIversal SHAPEd (UNISHAPE) Lamp Light Technology which dynamically adapts both colour and brightness allowing both to be optimised for optimum picture quality (circumventing the catch-22 associated with many projectors whereby brightness comes at the expense of colour saturation and vice versa).

BenQ SP290 DLP Projector Detail

Billed as being the perfect solution for cooperate, governmental and educational use, BenQ’s SP290 comes with the latest picture enhancing technologies including Texas Instruments’ DLP chip (the only all-digital imaging chip currently available), the aforementioned UNISHAPE, BrilliantColor processing and BenQ’s proprietary 3D Color Management system with the SP290’s lamp life touted as being around 2000 hours – though a “Dual Reliable” will serve to extent lamp life to around 2000 hours by limiting the SP290’s output to 4800 lumens whilst a “Single Alternative” mode will extend life still further, to around 4000 hours, by limiting output to just 3000 lumens. And, should one lamp burn out before the other, the SP290 will quite happily continue working using just a single bulb.
