IOGEAR Palm Sized USB Net ShareStation Release

Offers USB Device Sharing on Networks

IOGEAR USB Net ShareStation

IOGEAR have announced that their new USB Net ShareStation, a palm sized device that allows up to four USB devices – such as external hard drives, webcams, speakers and (multi-function) printers – to be shared across a network, has just been made available for purchase via its online store and major retailers.

IOGEAR’s USB Net ShareStation, which comes with a single USB port – though the device can support up to four USB peripherals thanks to supporting USB 2.0 hub extension – features an auto-sensing 10/100Base-T port and print server that will, according to IOGEAR’s site, ‘will even automatically identify your printer make/model upon connection’ and is capable of being connected to both wired and wireless networks (courtesy of connection to a wireless router).

In being a UPnP device, the USB Net ShareStation should prove a positive breeze to set up allowing you to access your USB peripherals throughout your house, depending on the extent of your network, as well as offering access to music stored on a PC remotely simply by plugging in a USB speaker setup, though IOGEAR notes that direct connections may be required for optimal performance in this respect (a highly trafficked network connection, therefore, could prove somewhat temperamental).
