LG Produce World’s Largest Ever Circular LCD Display – Elliptical Full Face LCD Watches Become A (Tantalising) Reality

LG have somewhat proudly announced that they have succeeded in producing the largest completely circular LCD display which brings forward the tantalising possibility of elliptical full LCD display watches and, in time, perhaps even circular digital photo frames as well as circular LCD display panels for mobile phones, rounded LCD automobile dashboard displays and curved displays on consumer electronics, et al.

The circular display produced by LG may measure a mere 35.5mm in diameter but, bearing in mind that true circular LCD displays have proven to be somewhat of a Holy Grail as far as fully featured realisation is concerned, this is no mean feat and, when you consider that the circular LCD display produced by LG offers 262K colour capabilities and boasts nearly 160º viewing angle we don’t doubt that LG’s competitors will greet the news with somewhat less enthusiasm than the rest of us.
Just to rub salt into the wounds, LG is set to showcase their new elliptical and circular LCD displays at the up and coming 2008 Society for Information Display (SID) exhibition in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., to be held from May 18 to May 23.
