Invariably there will be those that will argue that, in ‘merely’ being a concept, this touchscreen universal remote conceived of by David Chacon has the luxury of being as desirable as it pleases in being wholly fictitious and constrained only by the designer’s scope of imagination, but to do so would negate the fact that it’s the concepts of today lead to the products of tomorrow and so are as valid a focus of our attention as any product that has successfully made the truncated path through from concept to commercially available product.
Known simply as the Universal Remote, David Chacon’s touchscreen concept is envisaged as being a flash based device capable of displaying (and therefore controlling) just about anything that’s can be controlled wirelessly, from switching TV channels, filtering through your MP3 playlists to closing your front room’s curtains and putting the your children to bed after reading them a story (no, ok, scrub that last part).

Agreed, the concept is big on looks and somewhat lacking in specifics but if, like us, the very idea of home automation makes you go weak at the knees (and it most certainly does it for us) then we can think of nothing better than a device such as David Chacon’s Touchscreen Universal Remote to serve as the hand held master of ceremonies.
And, who knows, perhaps someone from Logitech has the foresight to offer a little backing to help David Chacon’s concept along the way to making it into our front rooms?
