Sony Bravia V4500 HDTV

Sony Europe has unveiled the new Bravia V4500 HDTV which serves to showcase Sony’s new ‘draw the LINE design concept’ and which, apart from offering screen sizes between 26” and 37”, is powered by Sony’s Bravia Engine 2 technology and comes complete with an integrated MPEG-4 AVC HD Tuner.

Offering up to 1360 x 768 WXGA resolution and, in the case of the 26” and 32” models, a somewhat astounding contrast ratio 33000:1, Sony’s new Bravia V4500 HDTVs also sport 24p True Cinema technology guaranteeing that Blu-ray based movies are consistently presented at the correct frame rate.

As well as an in integrated MPEG-4 AVC HD Tuner, Sony’s new V4500 HDTVs also come with a ‘Picture Frame Mode’ allowing digital photos to be displayed via connected USB flash drives (plugged directly into the TV) with the TV adjusting image brightness to, in Sony’s words, ‘mimic the appearance of a photographic print or painting’. Interestingly, in somewhat of a nod to the increasingly eco-aware consumer, Sony emphasises that, whilst operating in Picture Frame Mode, as a result of the decreased brightness, power consumption is also reduced by up to 35% in comparison to what Sony terms as being ‘a regular TV’.

Naturally, Sony’s new Bravia V4500 HDTV systems also come with Bravia Sync facilitating one touch setup with other Bravia components whilst no less than 3 HDMI sockets (along with 2 SCARTs0 ensure ease of connectivity with other HD devices such as Blu-ray players, HD camcorders and HD gaming consoles such as Sony’s PS3 (as you would expect, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is not mentioned).

As is established tradition with respect to Sony’s press releases, unit pricing is yet to be announced - but we will endeavour to update this post the moment retail pricing for each of the three new Bravia V4500 HDTVs is announced.
