Sony New HX HXD HDD DVD Recorders

Sony has announced no less than eight new hard disk drive DVD recorders, all of which support full HD 1080p playback and upscaling, come with integrated USB and PictBridge ports, PVR, Bravia Sync, direct HDD camcorder connection and X-Pict Story feature allowing users to create their own personal slideshows, complete with music, from imagery stored on the recorders.

Aimed at the European market, the top of the range RDR-HXD1095 comes with a full half terabyte of storage capacity – sufficient to store up to 1,420 hours of recorded TV – as well as in-built DVB-T digital tuner with DVB-T also being provided on the RDR-HXD790, HXD890 and HXD995 models whilst the remaining models, namely the RDR-HX680, HX780, HX980 and HX1080 merely come with integrated analogue tuners (the aforementioned HDX models also come with optional CI slot).

Sony’s new HX/HXD HDD DVD Recorders are due to become available in July, though Sony, as is somewhat traditional with them, have held back on pricing structures at the time of writing.
