Xbox Blu-ray Rumours Fuelled Further by Reported Sony & Microsoft Talks

Is Microsoft’s Xbox 360 HD gaming console to get a Blu-ray drive? Rumours are already rife and now a top Sony exec has fuelled them further.

Back in February we reported on rumours that Microsoft are not just considering, but are actively engaged in making a Blu-ray player their Xbox 360 HD gaming console a distinct possibility and, whilst some tech sites rubbished the idea, it would appear that talks with Sony are indeed underway – at least according to a top Sony Exec. The claim, made by Sony electronics chief Stan Glasgow, was reasonably vague, and does not give an indication as to just how advanced talks between Microsoft and Sony are but there’s no doubt that Glasgow should be considered a highly reliable source.

Microsoft, however – and as very much befits tradition – are rather less than forthcoming in merely stating that has not made any announcements to this effect but, interestingly, it stopped short of refuting the claim.

That’ll be a yes then.
