Samsung Spinpoint M6 - The Worlds First 2.5” Half Terabyte Notebook Hard Disk Drive

Samsung Spinpoint M6 Notebook HDD

Samsung’s new Spinpoint M6 hard disk drive may only offer half the capacity of the just posted Buffalo 1TB LinkStation Mini External HDD but, when you consider that Samsung’s Spinpoint M6 500GB HDD has been developed as an internal unit for notebooks you begin to understand why this is such a big deal – and why Samsung have gone to such great pains to point out that their Spinpoint M6 is the world’s first half terabyte 2.5” hard disk drive for notebooks.

In being a drive especially developed for notebooks Samsung’s SATA Spinpoint M6 had to comply with the industry’s standard 9.5mm height restriction which, considering that this drive consists of no less than three 167GB 5400rpm 2.5” platters, is no mean feat – the result being a half terabyte HDD that can be fitted to notebooks without the need for modification.

Samsung’s Spinpoint M6 500GB Notebook HDD has just been made available for around $300.
