Toshiba Camileo Pro HD Detail

Toshiba have announced its up and coming Camileo Pro HD budget priced camcorder that offers a 3X optical (4X digital) zoom and a 5 megapixel CMOS sensor capable of capturing high definition video footage encoded in the H.264/MPEG4 format at 1280 x 720 resolution as well as offering MP3 player and motion sensing PC webcam functionality.

As well as serving as a 720p HD camcorder with integrated MP3 player and web cam capabilities, Toshiba’s Camileo Pro HD, which offers a 270 degree rotatable 2.5” TFT LCD display, can also be used as a stills camera offering 11 megapixel equivalent resolution captures courtesy of interpolation and sports 128MB of internal memory (expandable with the use of SDHC memory cards) and HDMI connectivity, allowing the device to be hooked directly up to HDTVs.

Toshiba Camileo Pro HD

According to Graeme Simmons, Toshiba’s Business Unit Manager of PC Options, Peripherals and Services, ‘The Camileo Pro HD is a triumph for Toshiba’s innovative approach to product design. It’s incredibly slim; it has a smart, attractive design and offers the same picture qualities as cameras over twice its size and several times its price. It’s quite simply an excellent offering for consumers who want to shoot HD on the go.”

Set to go head-to-head with the likes of Sanyo’s DMX-HD1000 Xacti Camcorder (which, incidentally, whilst offering 1080p HD capture, as opposed to 720p, retails for around three times the price of the Camileo Pro HD), Toshiba’s Camileo Pro HD is set for an April release and will cost a mere £149 (around $283).
