Retro Styled Arcam Solo Mini Hi End Ultra Small Form Factor DAB Hi-Fi

UK based company Arcam, who are well known for producing high end home cinema and hi-fi equipment, have announced a new, slimmed down version of their much praised Solo hi-fi unit in the form of the Solo Mini which, apart from boasting decidedly retro appeal and the same high end components as its bigger brother, also packs in a CD player capable of reading CDR/RW discs and MP3/WMA file formats as well as a DAB and standard AM/FM radio tuner.
Designed to offer audiophile quality sound from a discrete and stylish aluminium unit, the Solo Mini comes complete with a Torrid based power supply paired with the integration of Arcam’s award winning CD73 model’s DAC ensuring high detailed sound and extremely clear reproduction across the sound spectrum and, thanks to the inclusion of a front mounted USB port, the Solo Mini can also play digital music directly from flash memory sticks.

Speakers are not included, but, as this image of the
Solo Mini’s rear shows, connectivity is not going to be a problem.
Arcam Solo Mini Features:
- Integrated CD, radio, stereo amplifier
- CD or MP3 playback from CD discs
- 2 x 25wpc linear amplifiers
- Internal DAB/FM/AM or FM/AM radio tuner (market dependant)
- Integrated iPod control via optional rLead/rDock
- Front panel USB input for additional media
- Six additional analogue inputs (5x RCA rear, 1x 3.5mm jack front)
- Alarm clock with “wake to” CD/Tuner/Alarm
- Remote control

Due to be released some time in March, Arcam’s Solo Mini will purportedly retail for around £650 (approximately $1278 / €862 at the time of writing) though before you dust off your wallet we should advise that you’ll have to allow for the fact that the unit is supplied without speakers.
