Few of you will not know that the double decked Airbus A380 is the world’s largest passenger plane to see commercial production and even fewer of you are ever likely to see the A380’s flight deck in all its glory (especially in the worlds present security conscious climate) which is why we found this 360 degree panoramic image of the A380 cockpit created by Gilles Vidal for Airbus SAS especially interesting and undoubtedly worth a brief mention here on TFTS.
For those interested in the finer details, the A380 cockpit features glass-cockpit and fly-by-wire technology (courtesy of side sticks) and comprises of no less than eight 15 x 20 cm LCD display units comprising of two primary displays, two navigational displays, one engine parameter display, one system display and two MFDs (multi-functional displays) – though each is fully interchangeable – as well as QWERTY keyboards and trackballs interfacing with a point and click display navigation system and optional HUD (Heads Up Display) units.
