Krell High End KID iPod Docking Station – Billed as ‘World’s Best Sounding iPod Dock’

Moving swiftly on from the previously featured monstrosity, namely Kenwood’s ‘cheaptastic’ AS-IP300 iPod Dock, this rather more appealing iPod docking station from the audiophiles at Krell, known as the KID (Krell Interface Dock) iPod Dock, not only boasts looks that we suspect could kill from 20 paces but has been claimed to be ‘World’s Best Sounding iPod Dock’ – a bold claim indeed.
Billed as being the first product of its kind to utilise ‘the fully differential output of the internal DAC’ the Krell’s promotional media certainly serves to pull little in the way of punches as far as the devices capabilities are concerned.

Krell KID Main Features:
Opto-isolated Connections
Balanced Differential Class A Circuitry
255-Step Custom Taper Volume Control
1/8” Stereo Input
Custom Self-locating Top Loading Cradle
Digitally-controlled Analogue Bass and Treble Controls
Balanced and Single-ended Outputs
Composite and S-Video Outputs
RE-232 Coltrol
It’s impressive stuff, certainly.
Designed directly in response to Krell Industries Inc.’s CEO’s desire to produce a high end iPod dock built to Krell standards, the Krell KID iPod Dock, which measures in at 13(W) x 2.8(H) x 10.9(D) inches, as you would expect, is far from cheap in being priced at around £1350 ($2630) but, as they say, you get what you pay for.
