Harman Kardon Backs Blu-ray Format with Up and Coming DVC 600 HDD Digital Video Entertainment Centre

Just as Toshiba announce a new firmware update for their HD-DVD format yet another well respected name has made its allegiances clear with Harman Kardon announcing that they will be releasing a standalone Blu-ray player, namely the DVC 600, timed to coincide with the IFA Show to be held in Berlin this coming September.
Purported to retail at around the £450-£500 (equating to around $880 – $980 at the time of writing), Harman Kardon’s DVC 600 Digital Video Entertainment Centre, according to reports from What Hi-Fi, sports a 1 Terabyte internal hard disk drive and dual integral TV tuners capable of recording up to eight TV channels simultaneously courtesy of a user-friendly EPG in either standard or HD format with a further channel being captured in the background using manual and/or automatic time-shift functions whilst a tenth channel is being viewed in real-time. Interestingly, apparently the device will also offer the capability to remove adverts from recorded programmes.
Naturally Harman Kardon’s DVC 600 Digital Video Entertainment Centre will also offer complete compatibility with standard DVD and CD formats with the unit offering dynamic video upscaling to 720p.
