We have always been devoted followers of all things iRiver and, if we ever needed affirmation as to why we hold iRiver in particularly regard (which, incidentally, we don’t), their sumptuously gorgeous new pocket sized PMP, known as the SPINN, certainly serves to set our minds at rest, as the SPINN is nothing short of a revelation.
Sporting a prominent 3.2” colour 480 x 272 resolution AMOLED widescreen capable of displaying MPEG4 videos at a smooth 30 frames per second, iRiver’s SPINN, as well as offering video playback, also serves as a photo viewer, a fully featured MP3/WMA/OGG player, a recorder (allowing you to record voice memos), an FM tuner, a DMB (in supported regions), a text viewer and, as if that were not enough, iRiver have even packed in e-Dictionary functionality.
Controlled via an novel analogue cylindrical toggle wheel mounted on the right hand side of the device, the SPINN naturally offers Bluetooth connectivity as well as a USB port that also serves to recharge the device and is due to become available in 4GB, 6GB and 16GB versions.
No word as of yet concerning pricing, but you can rest assured that we’ll be in the queue with you the moment the iRiver SPINN is released later this year.
